Experience: Recently moved here to Corona Del Mar from Florida. Started sailing on Lake Superior on a Morgan 30 in 1973. Cruised same in Bahamas for two months. Became interested in racing and joined Wayzata Yacht Club in Wayzata Minn. on Lake Minnatonka. Owned and raced an S2 7.9 in MORC fleet for around 4 years and won many trophies. Raced J24 for couple of years (Fleet #1) in US. Raced and did foredeck on Shock 35 for many seasons. It does blow on Lake Superior.

Served as protest committee chairman for five years at Wayzata Yacht Club. Moved to Florida

Crewed on Soveral 33 for 4 years and mostly called strategy and tactics. Sold UK sails for a couple of years after moving to Florida.

At 70 this week, I guess all I can offer is a thousand race experience. Would love to sail with anyone and the Harbor20 seems to be the most competitive fleet. Most importantly is I promise not to disrespect the skipper or his/her decisions.

    Roxanne Chan, MD; 617-251-8088 (cell)

Availability: Entire Weekend Regattas, Most Any Weeknight Regatta, Practice, Cruising.  Some advance planning is usually helpful but can try spontaneous too)

    Experience:

I learned to sail mostly in Boston, MA.  Crewed on numerous one-design races–including Soling and Rhodes 19 in Boston Harbor (Boston Sailing Center and Courageous Sailing) and Figawi from Hyannis to Nantucket (BYC).  I was also involved with winter “frostbiting” races.

I don’t miss the cold, wearing a harness or my foul weather gear since I moved to Malibu in 2003.  I then crewed on a few Wed PHRF races (CYC).

Since 2010, I have been living in Newport Beach, where I am delighted to be close to so much sailing action, beach and work.  I have now been on a H20 a few times before in class at OCC and in races.  I’ve taken racing rules classes with Perry and Haynes, Safety at Sea through OCC/NHYC to sharpen my mind and for motivation.  I also have taken OCC Shields 1-3 classes, Racing Clinic and have a US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification.

I do know how to swim, have done junior lifeguard courses and am a doctor but hope never to have to use these skills with any fleet related activities.
