If your crew hasn’t sailed with you in 12 races in the past year (to comply with Fleet 1 Bylaw I.F.8) there are two regattas this weekend:

BCYC Harbor 20 Tune Up

NHYC Fall One Design Regatta

If you will not be able to comply with Fleet 1 Bylaw I.F.8 email a petition by September 16 to fleet measurer Patrick Kincaid (pskincaid4899@gmail.com) to request an exception.

The championship is Sept. 20-21 for A and B boat owners, and just on Sunday, September 21 for C owners and skipper members.

2025 Harbor 20 Fleet 1 Championship – September 20-21, NHYC

Important Reminders

• Boats must be in the water for 60 days before the event (bylaw I.F.9).
• Skippers must have been owners for 60 days before the event (bylaw I.F.10). 

So, this year those criteria must be met by July 22.

• Boats must have a measurement certificate (class bylaw III.A.8) which can be verified by clicking your sail number in the harbor20.org member roster.
• A copy of the registration must be on the boat and must list the skipper’s name. 
• Crews must have sailed on the boat 12 times since the last fleet championships. 
• Petitions (such as for a crew who doesn’t meet the 12-race requirement) must be submitted to the Fleet Measurer before September 16.

OPEN TO ALL SAILORS! H20, PHRF, OTHER ONE DESIGNS…

While “Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing” and “Boat Handling and Sail Trim” are essential topics to understand in order to be competitive, neither will teach you how and why a sailboat race is actually won. “Strategy” is a plan you make before the start as to how you would sail the course as fast as possible in the absence of other boats. “Tactics” is about boat-to-boat maneuvers that help you to sail to your strategic plan. Great for skipper and crew because two heads are better than one!
