The 2026 education schedule is composed of classroom setting seminars and on-the-water clinics with experienced mentors aboard. It is targeted at those who are learning how to race a sailboat, and those who are already racers but would like to improve their skills.

Sailors who consistently finish well know a lot of stuff! To be competitive requires a good understanding of knowledge associated with three different topics, which are large enough and different enough as to be learned independently but must then be applied together on the water:

The Racing Rules of Sailing	Makes the sport possible, but complicated enough to require study to understand
Boat Handling & Sail Trim	Performance is important in any form of racing
Strategy & Tactics	Which way to point the boat, or “how to win a sailboat race”

Many books have been written on each of these topics. Because of the amount of information, a classroom setting is ideal, as it is difficult to learn it on the water. But, having absorbed information in the classroom, your learning curve when on the water is turbo-charged!

Each of the following events with the exception of one are all=day events. There are three all-day seminars covering the topics listed above. Each seminar is followed shortly thereafter by a companion on-the-water clinic intended to let you put the knowledge you learned in the classroom into practice on the water with an experienced mentor aboard . While attendance of the seminars is not mandatory for attendance if the clinics, the best learning experience is enjoyed by attending both. In addition, there are two on-the-water clinics on “General Topics” that are not companions to seminars, where the topics will be chosen by the host and any additional presenters the host invites.
