On Saturday, March 11th, our Fleet 1 Measurer – Richard Loufek – will be conducting boat weighings for boats that do not currently have a weight certificate, or for boats that have made changes and need to re-certify their weight certificate.
All Fleet 1 Boats must have a weight certificate on file to qualify to race in Fleet races.
Refer to the Class Bylaws for exact weight requirements and procedures for adding weight if necessary, specifically, sections III.C.2, and III.D.2.
Contact Richard Loufek directly at happyisles@mac.com or rloufek@insightinvestments.com to set up a time for a weighing.
Immediately after racing on Saturday, NHYC will be hosting a race debriefing / recap at the club facilities (yeah, the new one). Brian Bissel will host a “White Board” talk with the day’s winners and will discuss their strategies, what worked and what didn’t. Learn what you did right, or wrong, or should have done. NHYC will be providing some after-race chili or snacks. Come to NHYC immediately after the last race on Saturday to join this informative and educational event.
Note to all Fleet 1 competitors planning on participating in the NHYC Spring Regatta this weekend:
For this regatta, the Fleet 1 Board of Directors have altered the APPENDIX A: Rules for Maintaining Fleet Race Divisions as it applies to promotion from C Division to B Division and Re-Qualification in B Division. The change is as follows:
If at least ten (10) boats start in the C Division, then both the 1st and 2nd place winners of the regatta in C Division will automatically be promoted to the B Division. If less than 10 boats start in the C Division, the Rule will not change as currently written.
The Re-Qualification finish places for B Division only are: 5 boats=1st place; 6 boats=1st and 2nd; 7-8 boats=1st through 3rd; 9-11 boats=1st through 4th; 12+ boats=1st through 5th.
The purpose of this temporary rule change is to try to balance the number of qualified boats in the A, B and C Divisions. Currently there is a significant un-balance.
